Mongolian Ground Beef Noodles

This recipe makes tender ground beef with a savory sauce served over noodles. It is a quick and easy weeknight meal.

Ingredients
  

For the Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground ginger
For the Beef and Noodles
  • 1 pound Ground beef 80/20 recommended
  • 8 ounces Noodles Spaghetti or linguine work well
  • 1 tablespoon Vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced
  • 1/2 cup Green onions Sliced, for garnish

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Medium saucepan

Method
 

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, water, brown sugar, cornstarch, sesame oil, garlic powder, and ground ginger. Set aside.
  2. Cook noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
  4. Add minced garlic to the skillet with the beef and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Pour the prepared sauce over the beef and stir to combine. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
  6. Add the cooked noodles to the skillet with the beef and sauce. Toss to coat evenly.
  7. Serve immediately, garnished with sliced green onions.

Notes

For a spicier dish, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce. You can also add vegetables like broccoli florets or sliced bell peppers to the stir-fry.
