For the Treats
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 package marshmallows (10 oz)
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
For Decoration
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup blue candy melts
  • 1/4 cup red candy melts
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil (divided)
  • 1 tablespoon star sprinkles

Equipment

  • large saucepan
  • 9x13 inch baking pan
  • Spatula

Method

  1. Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan with butter or cooking spray. Set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the marshmallows and stir until completely melted and smooth.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Add the Rice Krispies cereal and stir until well coated with the marshmallow mixture.
  4. Press the mixture evenly into the prepared baking pan using a buttered spatula or wax paper.
  5. Let the treats cool for at least 30 minutes.
  6. While the treats are cooling, prepare the decorations. In separate microwave-safe bowls, melt the white chocolate chips, blue candy melts, and red candy melts according to package directions. Stir in 1/2 teaspoon of vegetable oil into each melted candy to make it smoother.
  7. Once the treats have cooled, cut them into squares or rectangles.
  8. Drizzle the melted white chocolate, blue candy melts, and red candy melts over the treats in a firecracker pattern. Immediately sprinkle with star sprinkles before the candy hardens.
  9. Allow the candy to set completely before serving.

Notes

You can also use food coloring to tint the melted white chocolate if you don't have colored candy melts.
