- In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in the warm water. Let stand for 5 minutes.
- Add the oil and salt. Stir in the flour, 1 cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface. Knead until smooth and elastic, about 2 to 3 minutes. Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning it once to grease the top. Cover and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 45 minutes.
- Punch down the dough and divide it in half. Press each half into a greased 12-inch pizza pan.
- Combine the tomato sauce, oregano, and basil. Spread this mixture over each crust. Add your desired toppings, if using.
- Sprinkle the cheese evenly over the toppings. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the crust is lightly browned.
