Ingredients
  

For the Rice
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup uncooked instant rice
For the Stir-fry
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup sliced green beans or peas
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Medium skillet or wok

Method
 

  1. Gather all your ingredients.
  2. Bring the water, soy sauce, and salt to a boil in a medium saucepan. Stir in the instant rice, then remove from heat. Cover and let stand for 5 minutes.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a medium skillet or wok over medium heat. Sauté the chopped onion and green beans or peas in the hot oil for 2 to 3 minutes.
  4. Pour the beaten egg into the skillet and fry for 2 minutes, scrambling the egg as it cooks.
  5. Add the cooked rice to the egg mixture and mix well. Season with black pepper.

Notes

This recipe is a great base for customization. Feel free to add other vegetables like carrots, bell peppers, or broccoli. You can also add cooked chicken, shrimp, or tofu for extra protein.
